The person beside you

Hello, I’m Yatong.

I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and a person who knows something of finding a place between cultures, expectations and ways of being.

How we work together

My approach is collaborative, direct and unhurried. I bring clinical structure and curiosity; you bring your experience. We make sense of things together.

A neurodivergent-friendly space

Room for your experience

I have ADHD myself. That lived experience informs the care I bring to this space, while leaving room for your experience to be different from mine. We can explore what helps you feel understood, comfortable and able to participate in your own way.

There is no need to sit still, make eye contact or find the perfect words. We can make room for movement, pauses, sensory needs and your own way of processing.

Working with your nervous system

Nervous system regulation is central to my practice. We notice signs of overwhelm or shutdown, explore grounding and adjust the pace together — so there is more room for choice.

Training & professional standing

  • Master of Social Work · Flinders University
  • EMDR trained · Level 1 & 2
  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Approaches, training & accountability

My work draws on EMDR, parts work / IFS-informed approaches, somatic pacing, ACT, CBT and DBT skills, and schema-informed work. We discuss what these involve and choose together according to your needs and goals. Culture, consent and your pace stay central.

Questions about therapy

A little clarity

Questions about therapy

You can be curious, unsure, or simply looking for words. Start with the question that feels closest to you.

Could therapy help me?

You do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch. We can begin with what feels difficult, confusing, or important to you.

A little more detail
How does therapy work?

Therapy offers time to understand what you are experiencing and explore possible ways forward. Different approaches suit different people.

A little more detail
What happens in a first session?

We begin by getting to know what brings you here and what you would like from our time. You can ask questions too.

A little more detail
How many sessions might I need?

There is no single timetable that fits everyone. We can discuss a starting point and review what is useful as we go.

A little more detail
What if it does not feel right?

Your experience of the work matters. You can tell me when something feels unclear, too much, or unhelpful.

A little more detail
Is this a neurodivergent-friendly space?

We can make room for different ways of communicating, focusing and processing. I have ADHD myself, and I will be curious about your experience rather than assume it matches mine.

A little more detail
What do you mean by nervous-system regulation?

In our work, this means noticing how your body responds to stress and what helps you feel more able to stay with an experience. It is not an instruction to be calm all the time.

A little more detail
Can I come if I have a diagnosis or take medication?

A diagnosis or medication does not automatically rule out therapy. We can discuss the support you need and whether this practice is suitable.

A little more detail
Can we have sessions in Mandarin?

Yes. Sessions can be in English or Mandarin.

A little more detail
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to come?

No. ADHD support is for adults with ADHD, or who think they might have it, with or without a formal diagnosis.

A little more detail
What is EMDR, and will I have to do it?

EMDR is a structured therapy for distressing memories. It is one option, used only when it suits you and your goals.

A little more detail
Can I use Medicare?

Yes, for eligible sessions. You usually need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral from your GP.
